In an effort to regain his losses, Pertentus had very few options. He could remove the ban on the innermost part of the island (Which he already was receiving reports of settlers moving to those areas), or he could cut his spending for the Gods. Both options could have lead to two different situations. If he were to cut spending, then his people would rise up against him, claiming that the Gods will smite them all like they had done to the Anteans. Senator Pertentus enjoyed his wealth and power, and had decised on the second option. He feared that more of his people would go missing, when in fact, the opposite occurred. Little did he know of what truly lies in the lands within Elpida, but he felt that it was his divine right to find out.
