The Dagger his boss gave him, Katara. 2. A triangular-shaped necklace he took from his father Socrates was born and raised in the Mainland by a poor family. His dad was working in the fields, a slave of a rich man. His mother was cleaning clothes for a living and taking care of Socrates and his two little sisters. When Socrates was 17 years old he was approached by a mysterious man named Periklis. That man told Socrates that if he wanted a better life for him and his family he should join Periklis and his guild. Socrates not knowing anything about that "guild" decided to join for the sake of his family. The guild trained him hard, they taught him the art of swordsmanship and how to move quietly, so no one can hear him coming. Socrates figured out quickly what the guild was about, but did not want to quit, for the sake of his family. He was becoming, an Assassin. Socrates remained an Assassin, but he was not able to tell anyone since his guild was a secret. It simply did not exist. Socrates had to worship a different god and fight in the arena as a gladiator in order to stay undercover. He accepted his new life because he knew that his family would not starve to death. The contracts for the targets never had a name. Just some information to identify the target because if they knew who they are killing, they might choose not to. That is what Socrates is paying for now. One day, Socrates was assigned a contract. To kill a local farmer because he was considered a traitor to the nation. Socrates grabbed his dagger, a dagger given to him by Periklis, and left to finish his job. He moved slowly, hiding inside the tall crops, and with a fatal blow, he cut the farmers throat without making any sound. He was never there. However, when the farmer fell to the ground, Socrates realised that the target was his father. He could not stay there, his job was done. He took his father's necklace and left him dead, in the middle of the field. He then went home, grabbed all his stuff, left money for his family and left. He was never seen again. People only heard about his assassinations, but no one knew that "The Shadow" was actually Socrates. When he collected enough money, he paid for the trip to Elpida, because he wanted to leave his own shadows behind. However, Socrates will not change his life in Elpida, since assassinations for him, is the only way to stay alive!
