So, I started my own YouTube channel a while back, with a group of other beginning YTers, but we never got along super well and we separated not long after. After that, I haven't uploaded any videos, and only have my measly 5 subs. BUT! With the beta release coming out, I wanted to ask if it would be OK to record videos on the server, especially during beta, as it would be a great and unique way to kickstart my channel. On that note, I would like also like to livestream (although probably nobody will watch mine ) and possibly join in the voice chat with Tomas and tcvs (and hastearms if he is participating) during the release. I know that with my miniscule channel It may or may not go anywhere, but I feel it would still be beneficial as you would have a normal user such as myself asking questions in voice chat during the livestream which you can answer and explain right then. I do not mean to advertise my channel if that is against your rules (I can't remember, even if you had laid down any specific rules, I have a horrible memory. I did look through the forums some before posting, but didn't find any) Spoiler: My channel link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1X-Dr4VMKGKfJPDSLCW71A I care not which voice chat program you use; I have Skype, Teamspeak, etc.
Even though I have no part in the decision, I think it would benefit the community since we have a fresh opinion on it from someone who isn't directly involved in the creation of the server who can provide us the audience and users and insight into the server. Who would also ask the questions on most of our minds and can find out those details and information. I'll definitely be watching, if I can that is, because if its on Friday. I'll be watching star wars. >.> But I'll try to catch some of it. If possible you should record the live stream and upload it to a YouTube channel for people to watch later.
For recording the beta, I believe we will be allowing it. I will have a conversation with @Tomas in the morning when he is awake. I will respond back with the official status. Will also make sure to release a public notice in the beta announcements so it is official.
Thanks for your support However, as stated in another post, Tomas and tcvs will be hosting their own livestream and I don't intend to take views away from them, especially if they make anything off of it. I don't know if two different users can do a co-op livestream using Twitch or whatever, but if that is not the case, I suggest you watch theirs first EDIT: tcvs you posted right in the middle of me typing this so now the posts are out of order .-. And thank you for the quick response.
We have always said recording would not only be allowed, but encouraged. The longer term plan is to endorse loyal players who stream our server regularly. You might even get a section on our website. The way we look at it, by streaming you help us grow, so we want to help your channel grow in return. For this specific event, it would make sense for you to start your stream AFTER the server has been opened. There is nothing for you to stream beforehand (obviously). If you look at our schedule, our stream actually takes place before opening. The purpose of our stream is to share a lot of information with our testers, not so much to mess about and play. So you are very welcome to hop in once the server opens and stream/record your heart out. We would ask you to attach a link to your streams and videos, leading your viewers to our website. That way they can easily join us. I will post the specific format of the link in a separate thread once that is decided (either today or tomorrow). Hope that helps
Thanks everyone for your encouragement! It just makes me that much more motivated to go through with something I'm still getting into. Tomas, I had seen the schedule first, but wasn't sure if your stream was going to run over into the official opening which is why I asked. I will of course put a link whenever I make something pertaining to the server. And thanks for subscribing Alir99
Sorry for getting your guys' hopes up, but i remembered the other reason I stopped doing YT before. They are more personal reasons, so you will just have to take my word for it. Sorry.
