Background Growing up in a small town in the Mainland hasn't always been the easiest of feats. Born into a small merchant family, Eknall was able to have the normal childhood of anyone from his time. He completed basic education and learnt to read and write. His intelligence and sometimes even mischievous curiosity, however, always landed him in trouble. One day, a few weeks after he had reached his pubescent years his father requested to speak to him. He didn't think much of it, it could've been that they found out about another one of his cheeky acts. As his father starts speaking to him, he reveals the history of their family. A few generations ago, the Lightfeet family was a well renowned family of fighters said to have birthed many gifted warriors. He further explained how his great grandfather deserted the forces they were serving and thus exiled the family from the Lordship they resided in. Scared, they resettled in a small town and started up a shop. This is when Eknall learned his life goal. To bring honour back to his family name, he swore to his father he would. His father handed him Reckoning, a silver longsword which was carried down the generations. It is said that dozens died at the blade of this sword. So, Eknall took the sword and enlisted into the military. His years in the military he learned basic combat and was able to get comfortable with his swordsmanship. His first deployment was bloody, they were tasked with taking down a bandit camp. They dispatched a small squad of 5, however when they arrived, to their shock they learnt that the opposing force was threefold. They rushed into battle and begun their fight for life or death. One sodden fellow was instantly shot by an archer positioned at the far side of the camp. They rushed in taking down 5 of them almost within the first 5 minutes of the battle starting. Thankfully their military training beat the criminals whimsical attempts at swordsmanship. They were unorganised and greedy. Eknall rushed in for the kill on the archer, when he took a hit to his shoulder. He fell down in shock, however moments later he was on his feet again. With a rush of adrenaline, he pounced on this archer, similarly to a wolf and slashed his head clean off. This mortified the other bandits. Taking advantage of this shock, he ran towards the next and cut his belly open. "Look at the bloodlust in his eyes... That is no man. That is a beast." They muttered as they charged at him. His fellow soldiers quickly ran into battle and with a little luck, and perhaps the help of the Gods, they became successful. After many years in 11 years in service, Eknall was sent on his last mission. They were tasked with apprehending a backstreet alchemist, who had been brewing potions to heal the sick for free and without paying tax money. They were ordered to go in for the kill, or to bring him back to be hung. When they arrived, the alchemist grovelled in fear as they were approaching him. This was the moment Eknall realised what is wrong with this world. Their leaders, all greedy and nonchalant. Not caring about the lives of all. He quickly came to realise that his definition of honour was wrong all along. He took a long, deep breath and unsheathed Reckoning, with the same bloodlust in his eyes. He took his two fellow soldiers down with a clean slice each and comforted the alchemist. "I will forever be in your debt" he said. Eknall grunted and started leaving the shop, not quite sure about what to do next. Anger, fear, hatred and regret clouded his thoughts. He turned back remembered. His chance to start fresh and to bring true honour to his name and to bring the unjust to justice. "I will gladly accept some coin" he said with determination in his eyes. The alchemist was happy to reward him for saving his life and thus, Eknall was ready to sail off for a new life.
