When he was younger he prayed daily too but has slowly lost faith through his life. He Does celebrate holidays a lot though and enjoys the food the most. Story Paragraphs: He grew up on the rural farms of Mainland and helped his dad a lot on the farms harvesting barley and wheat. He was an only child and that caused his parents to spoil him, he got his favourite toys and was a selfish but non troublesome boy. As he grew up, he remained close to his parents and worked at his fathers bakery where he learned how to cook, how to farm and how to market foods. This is where his passion for baking came from. Whilst he was young his father and him went on walks every day around the settlements and the corn fields to enjoy the fresh air and scenery, since this was rural mainlands there were rolling hills of corn and wheat and beautiful oak trees. Later in life, his fathers business was making a lot of sales until his father suddenly became very ill, this was when he took over the business and also helped take care of his father. His life changed from then onward and he became a very humble and gentle person whilst before the illness he was a rather greedy selfish guy. Since his parents were the most important things to him he took some time off of work to be with his father in his deteriorating condition, a few weeks went by and his fathers health got worse and worse until 3rd April 2403S when his dad sadly passed away, leaving him and his mother distraught, as the months passed he slowly became more and more depressed with the loss of his main role figure and beloved father. He stopped going in to work and stopped selling produce, which made his mother very angry as she had also had to go through the death too and was suffering just as bad. As the arguing got worse the more he did not attend work he began to get very fed up of his life in the mainland and wanted to escape it all. his bills were piling up and the business had collapsed. As he was going on one of his daily walks around the settlement he saw a poster promoting expensive but worthwhile trips to 'Elpida', The poster promoted a large working economy and a one way ticket. As he stared at the half torn piece of paper he thought that this could be it, this could be the break he needed, Later that evening His mother found out he had been stealing Money from the business and forced her to lash out and create the biggest argument that they had ever had (one of the only they have ever had). this pushed Joe over the edge and caused him to grab his cash and run away from it all. As he was running he knew only one place to go, The Docks.
