Full Name:Thorvald Erikson Nickname:Erik Age:32 Date of Birth:23823 Place of Birth:Capitol sewers Residence:Elpida Job:Mercenary Hobbies:Archery, Sailing Beliefs:Follower of Ignarus and Maventa Signature ItemsDancinblach(a scroll of Igranus) three white pearls. My family has roots in the barbaric northern lands, my ancestor Thorvald was the high priest of Ignarus for years, it is here my family was gifted Dancinblach by Ignarus himself. Later, my family moved to the Capitol, and slipped into poverty. I was born in our darkest hour. I worked low paying jobs in markets, and became a mercenary, my only bit of success. I was immensely skilled in combat, and was able to earn a steady flow of money, but I faced scrutiny and grew dissatisfied with my life. The final straw came when the Emperor was assassinated, and my parents, strong followers of Pheadron were prime suspects. The night they were convicted, I raced to Maventa's temple, determined to attain her blessing and leave the country. At her shrine I was desperate, and did something forbidden. I wet the stones of her alter in my blood. She sympathized, and I was soon aboard an illegal ship to Elpida. She hastened my journey, but she wasn't fast enough. Capitol ships attacked, I fought off the soldiers, but the ship caught fire. Only I escaped. For two days I drifted, then I saw three lights! I dove to them, thinking they were the lights of Maventa's palace, but they were only pearls. As I came up with them in my hands, I saw a ship, and signaled them. They were fishermen of Elpida, and I was saved, and began my new life in Elpida.
@Thorvald_Eriksson Enjoyable read! Hope you have plans on expanding your bio as I would love to know more about your character.
This is great. Don't forget to upload an avatar to the forums, so that you may be accepted. I like to have another Phaedron follower!
Correct. It is one of the requirements to become a beta tester. I can't wait to see the one you pick!
Well, in my opinion, saying your parents killed the Emperor is a little "god-like". This is something that no player should be related too, as it is really not lore following. Soon, everyone will just take claim for the major events. Maybe replace the emperor with a MADE UP person.
@Tomas will probably review this. @Saphiria Veneficia is correct. This is a game changing thing to have in your bio. We will have to wait to see what @Tomas has to say.
First off, I didn't do it. And second, it would probably hurt me a lot in elections, business, and other assorted instances. Also no one said who did it and I just molded my escape to Elpida around it. I never said that I knew, conspired, or took part in the assassination.
*Shrugs* I did not mean to offend you. I was simply stating the facts. I thought it would be in your best interest to know this, because then you would have a chance of being accepted to the beta.
Hi sorry for the late read. So far I like your story, but it would be much better if you could make it longer so we could have some descriptive background information too. Good luck and I can't wait for you to join us.
Interesting biography. It is going in the right direction. There are a couple of issues you will need to address though. First of all, your signature item can't be a weapon given to you by the gods. It would be too powerful in relation to the other items people have. Secondly, your parents can't have killed the Emperor. Generally, try to avoid directly linking your biography to important events in the lore. What I would suggest is that your parents were loyal followers Phaedron. After to assassination of the Emperor, all of the loyal followers were frowned upon and treated as suspects. This complex political situation forced you to flee, due to the fear of being incriminated for something you had no connection to. (But you can address this in any other way you see fit) Last but not least , your character is proposed to attack others impulsively. While that isn't an issue on its own, try to think I what implications that has on your roleplay. Your character won't be allowed to frequently attack others, or force them into conflicts they aren't happy to be part of. That would not promote a good experience for others - so that behaviour could get you in trouble. This is not an issue with the biography, but rather a word of warning. It is always important to ensure everyone around you is having fun as well. Also what Alir suggested is true - the more you add to the biography, the more others can relate to your character. There is no requirement on the length, but adding some fluff definitely won't hurt.
Ok, I meant the mace to be a symbol of my family's long connection to Igranus, it doesn't have any special powers or abilities aside from the inherent characteristics of a mace. It's just a symbol that can be used as a weapon.
Again, I think having High Priest of Ignarus is a little too powerful as well. Try looking at some of the other biographies for more examples.
@Thorvald_Eriksson I'll offer similar comments to what I just wrote into another biography thread. Generally, we do not really promote players attacking others regularly - especially when you are not being provoked. Some people may want to fight, but a large majority of our characters are crafters, traders, etc... It is in everyones best interest, including yours, that the character you are proposing is able to interact with others easily, without the need for excessive conflicts and fighting. From my experience, overly aggressive characters are not really fun to play with. We will be enabling criminal gameplay later this coming year - until then players will need to be sensible with how they play. Do you think your character will be able to do that?
Presently we have no timeline for criminal gameplay. You will be kept up to date with information when it becomes available.
I am going to bump this thread because i like his general idea. Hopefully he will get an email and check back here.
