Signature items- undecipherable codex , sacrificial/ ceremonial axe Raised as an orphan in the temple of Aestheria, Cydus’ knowledge was restricted to the teachings of the temple. From a young age she was raised by the worshippers to be a hardworking, fanatic follower of Aestheria, valuing art, knowledge and beauty which has earned her the position of ceremonial priestess and the Guarder of The Eternal Flame. The flame in the temple burned bright and rich, flavoured with vibrant shades of purple with specks of oranges and red due to the potassium powder and its impurities, a royal virtuous colour befitting of the Goddess Aestheria. The task of defending the flame was one of ultimate responsibility and dedication, Cydus understood that the flame was physically nothing more than a fire imbued with various chemical components. But the ideas that the fire represented and how the flame was the embodiment and representation of the Goddess Aestheria was worth defending with her life. She was trained in the arts of combat, and was taught how to use the axe gracefully, for one day she would be expected to gracefully lay down her life to keep the eternal fire alive, as the duty for any priestess. Cydus’ duties and role left her chained inside the temples great walls, she’d only willingly leave for a ceremonial sacrifice or festive event. Her days consisted of combat training, reading, praying and cleaning. The limited sea of books inside the temple also kept her relatively busy, despite the fact that she’d flicked through several books a day. The literature inside the temple became familiar over the years, soon phrases, sentences, paragraphs and then chapters became ingrained into her memories, much like the prayers and blessings that she recited so many times over, the books and practices became her second instinct. She could recite them in her sleep and while she wandered the long hallways of the temple. But one day she found an especially unique book. One with a scaly coat of skin, its border trimmed with the finest most intricate of gold patterning’s. The scaly cover hid a thick stack of paper, harbouring graceful unidentifiable text. The book was coded in a foreign language, one that she’d never seen before, no, the whole town hasn’t seen before! The teachers at the temple claimed that language connected humanity with the gods, and that s/he who could read and understood the book was granted ascension past human limitations. Fuelled by curiosity and the temptation of boundless knowledge Cydus was determined to understand the meaning in the codex that was locked behind incomprehensible elegant scripture. With the encouragement and permission of the superiors to leave the safety and familiarity of the temple Cydus left, searching for newfound knowledge that lead to the possibility of deciphering the text that lead to immeasurable power and wisdom that would benefit all of mankind. Word of the new lands containing untainted knowledge had further spark Cydus’ curiosity. She departed the temple with nothing but a small fraction of the temple’s donations, her ceremonial axe, and the Halidom codex. Cydus’ own fire was ignited as she left the temple gates, one of glorious purples, oranges and reds.
Hello and welcome to the server! This is an amazing bio and it was an absolute joy to read it. Still, I do have to ask for a few changes. First, your age range does not fit your date of birth range (and a 5 year d.o.b. range is also a bit large, considering she would probably have been found very young). Second, the eternal flame in the temple is a nice touch, but to my knowledge it is not metioned in our lore, and it seems to important to not be lore-changing, so I would really like you to change/remove it.
I've fixed the date. The flame was a common practice based on the ancient Greek's philosophy, so I'd thought it'd would correspond with your preset boundaries. I would also like to make the argument that the flame is not lore changing and the addition of the flame only serves to represent the characters devotion to her religious practices and her ambition and desire to grow more knowledgeable to protect her goddesses wishes and virtues. The flame is not important in the scheme of the overall story, but serves as a point interest and a fundamental idea inside the character's backstory. The removal of the flame would be difficult as the main basis of the backstory is based around this ancient Greek practice, the removal of this element would require the renovation of the whole story. Is there any possibility that we can keep the flame in?
