Daedalus's father was a blacksmith and also a fairly renowned tradesman so once little Daedalus reached the age of fifteen his father started training him in the ways of blacksmithery as his father had done with him. Daedalus always found more joy in Jewelry making than blacksmithing as anyone can make a sword but jewelry was where the real skill was so he spent his days learning how to forge weapons to sell to the Army and at night he would learn from the local Jeweler. Daedalus's father was planing on joining the senate before everything went wrong. Daedalus's home life was pretty good as his family had some wealth he never had a struggle to find food and before he started training as a blacksmith he got history lessons from his mother who had been a scholar unfortunately when Daedalus was sixteen his mother died from an incurable illness. Daedalus's training went very well and he probably would have been an amazing blacksmith if his training hadn't been cut short but even still his skills were still superior compared to any common blacksmith but he still was not the best blacksmith in the world. Daedalus's father had made enemy's in the senate as he had some opposing views on the war with the barbarians in that he thought that the senate should try and end that war which spread the rumour of treason around his father. Life was good on the mainland with his family until one day a man came into the shop,this man was a notable politician and he accused Daedalus's father of treason and for this supposed crime the politician had his father arrested and subsequently executed. After being labeled a traitor the Army immediately terminated all contracts with Daedalus's shop farmers and adventurers stopped coming by to repair their equipment. Daedalus now an outcast could no longer stand the mainland and so using the last of his family's wealth set out to Elpida for a new start and a hope that he could remake his family's legacy on the frontier where nobody would recognize him. of course with the change of scenery came other problems as now Daedalus had no shop and no material suppliers so he would have to start from scratch he could only hope he could make it work.
