Local legend says it was found in an ancient ruin by coastal settlers during a devastating storm which lasted 100 days and nights. When he was young, Arcai's father once told him an old folk tale about how the trident was forged in the Aurora by the Goddess Marventa and how he who wields it has good fortune in battle. Arcai is given Aurorus from his father to protect himself as he ventures out to the mysterious and possibly dangerous new land of Elpida. Arcai Flurro was born in a small fishing village on the mainland coast, about a 5 day walk to any major city. His mother and father owned the harbour meaning he gained plenty of experience in trade, building ships and fishing which he usually did with his 2 brothers. His father was a well respected figure who had previously built ships for the Senate Navy in order to ward off barbarian tribes. His mother and sister looked after a small farm along with other villages who occasionally made the week long trip to market to sell coastal goods such as fish. One day whilst his father was away from the village dealing with a passing tribe of barbarians, a violent storm arose from the sea quickly flooding the village and wiping out most of the ships, supplies and population. The villages fate was decided and all surviving inhabitants were forced to move to the great cities of Patraeia with no money or supplies, many didn’t survive the harsh journey. During this endeavour, Arcai learnt some basic fighting skills so he could protect his family from the wilderness. Eventually Arcai’s family settled in a large city where they lived for many years, longing to go back to their village. During this time Arcai saved up enough to travel to the new land of Elpida to find wealth. On Elpida Arcai dreams to become a powerful trader and landowner as quickly as possible and through whatever means necessary so his family back on the mainland can one day join him and rebuild their lives. He plans to do this by using his knowledge and experience of trade, fishing and self-defence he learnt from growing up on the docks of his old village. He also wishes to refine his fighting skills through possible military involvement and training(especially with the trident), in order to protect his family as his father did. Much like his family and others in his old village, Arcai continues to worship and preach the power of Marventa as he has seen her influence through the flood of his village. .

Did his parents pass it down to him? If so, when the trident was handed down to him, did his parents say anything to him?
