I think you should have some type of blacksmithing job and a blacksmithing system to create custom items. The really op items could only be made if you max the job out. Blacksmithing should require you to make tons and tons of items to get to the point where you could make very good items. Also, there should be a possibility of having a blacksmith shop where players or NPCs can buy things from you at reasonable prices.
