However, there was one, Senator Pertentus, who wanted to see change. He made it his sworn oath to do whatever it took to rise into power and fix the great Nation of Patraeia to its former glory. He Bargained, threatened, an bribed his way to the top of the political power that was the Senate. All others came to fear his defiance, seeing his actions as rash or aggressive. many of the other senators attempted to assassinate this young Senator before he gained too much power for the Senate to control. However, the people of Patraeia supported Pertentus, and wholeheartedly supported his rise to power. Soon, he vested in himself many powers of an Emperor, to which the rest of the Senate could do little to prevent. He was becoming known as ""Emperor Pertentus"" despite his title as senator.
