== The Gods ==

The Gods of Elpida are the most powerful entities known to man. They are a representation of our lives, and watch over all who dwell within their domain and guidance. Those of whom follow these Gods know of their history, their patronage, and their values. It is a common sight to see many worship their Gods, whether it be in their temples or by prayer. No matter how one may dedicate themselves, the Gods will be forever watching.

== Origins of Elpida ==

In the beginning, the world was empty and desolate. No creature, mortal or immortal, walked the earth, swam the seas, or flew the skies. This state persisted for untold aeons, and the surface of the world remained unchanged. Far above the earth, however, the realm known as the Aether was forming. The Aether, the blue region of the sky beyond the sun and stars, is the home of the divine and the birthplace of all life.

From the Aether emerged the six gods. Having been born fully developed into an unfamiliar realm, the gods were disoriented at first. The fiery spirit of Ignarus was the first to recover. He saw before him a vast realm to claim as his own and immediately seized control over the Aether, casting his siblings down to the surface of the world. Slowly, the other gods gained awareness and learned of their brother’s treachery. Enraged, they flew to Ignarus’s kingdom and warred with him for domination of the skies. Ignarus was powerful, but his five brothers and sisters combined were able to wrestle the Aether from his incendiary grip.

The victors collectively banished Ignarus to the nether and divided the skies amongst themselves. Aestheria was granted the subtle and beautiful moon, Marventa the guiding stars, Metus the bounty of the sun, Phaedron the concealing shadow of the clouds, and Legaros the Protector guardianship of the Aether itself. For a time, the gods lived in relative peace, cultivating new life on the earth and sharing ownership of the skies. However, Phaedron soon grew discontented with his share, believing that he had played a larger role in Ignarus’s defeat than the other gods. As a consequence, Phaedron thought, he deserved a larger portion of the sky than he had been given. He declared war upon the other gods and, once again, war began in the skies.

Phaedron, hidden behind the clouds, sneaks up on the other gods and assaults their aerial territories. The embattled gods use their great powers on one another, producing flashes of light and roars of sound hidden in the clouds. These battles, known as storms, continue to this very day, and it seems as though the War of the Skies may never end.
== Titans, Godlings and Demigods ==

Metus and Marventa have long since been considered lovers. As he is God of land, sun, and animal, and Marventa is Goddess of sea, stars and fish/bird. They are irrevocably linked together, both physically (sea is connected to land, land is connected to air, etc), and metaphorically.

Legaros and Aestheria are also seen as lovers, probably due to Aestheria being seen as the mother of mankind and Legaros being seen as the father. This is further support through the story of Phoebe and Alexander (the first man and woman). Phoebe was created in Aestheria’s image, and Alexander in Legaros’s image. This means that when Phoebe and Alexander fell in love, became married and had children, their love was a reflection of Legaros’s and Aestheria’s.
== Holidays ==
These are the festive days within the year dedicated to the Gods. There are some days dedicated to a singular God, others dedicated to multiple. Holidays have been celebrated since the dawn of time, and will forever be done so out of respect for the Gods. Therefore, these specific days have much meaning, and often bring everyone closer together.

*''Aether’s Moon:'' a celebration of Legaros’ reclaimed domain
*''Metus’ Bounty:'' Those who follow metus exchange gifts of personal worth
*''Birth of the World:'' celebrating how the world was created and celebrating the birth of the Gods
*''Phaedron’s Curse:'' everyone dresses up as monsters and celebrate, symbolizes blending in with the creatures in the shadows.
*''The Feast of Ignarus:'' Where boar and other animals are roasted over a spit to symbolize his descent into the Nether
*''Astheria’s Maiden:'' Where couples celebrate by enjoying a romantic day with each other. Gifts are often exchanged.
*''Marventa’s Bounty:'' A day where one celebrates the gifts of life, and often eat fish or other oceanic animals
*''Legaros’ Reign:'' the day that Legaros rose into consciousness. Celebrated with eggs to symbolize his birth.

Romance

Titans
A titan is a piece of one God. Titans are actually part of a God, so by creating a Titan, a God is actually reducing their power. Ignarus gave up a fifth of his power to create Abris, so Abris has one fifth of Ignarus’s power, and Ignarus has one fifth less power. By hurting Abris you would be hurting Ignarus. Titan’s are actually extensions of Gods. Abris is Ignarus, but Ignarus is not Abris. Sort of like a hand is your body, but your body is not your hand. Titans are just dispersal of power, not creation of it. Phoebe and Alexander are NOT titans, as they are not actually pieces of Legaros and Aestheria, only creations.

All known titans:
Abris, titan of the earth, piece of Ignarus
Niraura, titan of water, piece of Marventa. She is seen as the queen of nymphs.

Godlings
A child between two gods is called a godling (still a god, just seen as lesser than). This is creation of power. One such godling is Sekarus, godling of messages and leader of Angels. All godlings are angels.

All known godlings:

Legaros and Aestheria’s children
Sekarus, godling of messages and leader of Angels - male
Xaton, godling of order and judgement - male
Usson, godling of chivalry and honour - male
Phelo, godling of home and hearth - male
Umira, godling of weddings and marriage - female
Remira, godling of safety and protection - female
Etar, godling of poetry and song -female
Asjun, godling of health and healing - female

Metus and Marventa’s children
Isa, godling of fertility and offspring - female
Koella, godling of freedom and conquest - female
Ghaxtia, godling of luck and gambling- female
Kunera, godling of dusk and dawn - female
Ylone godling of alcohol and party - male
Qridonna, godling of work and soil - male
Amtar, godling of day and light - male
Bersoi, godling of finance and trade - male

Demigods
If they are born of one god and one human, they are called demigods (far less powerful but still very powerful and magical). They are not immortal, but have many magical and incredible talents, such as super strength, shape-shifting, flying, elementary summoning, mind-control etc. For Gods, they do not see sleeping with humans as cheating.

All known demigods:
Persephone, daughter of Phaedron. Mainly known for her seduction and manipulation skills
Thea, daughter of Phaedron. Mainly known for her shape-shifting and face-swapping
Derward, son of Legaros. Mainly known for his amazing fighting skills which he used to defend the realm
Idgi, daughter of Aestheria. Mainly known for her incredible beauty and singing skills.
Aeceus, daughter of Marventa. Mainly known for her exploration and voyage skills.

In the time called “The Era of Peace”, when Ignarus had been cast to the nether and all the gods were content, the first man and woman were created. The Gods were happy, but felt sad that such a beautiful world was so empty. The skies were vacant and the lands were untrodden, and all was silent. Aestheria came up with the idea of humans (which is why she is often thought of as a Mother). She told the other God’s of her vision, and they all agreed that the world should be full of these people created in their image. Aestheria created the first woman - a lady with all her beauty and grace, and named her Phoebe. Phoebe grew hungry, so Metus filled the lands with crop and grain so she could eat, as well as animals that she could hunt. Phoebe grew thirsty, so Marventa added pools and lakes that she could drink from, and filled the skies and seas with beautiful creatures so she wouldn’t be bored. Phoebe grew tired, so Phaedron created a night so that she may rest her eyes. All was good and pure.

However, Ignarus heard of this beautiful creation, and he was enraged that he had no part in it. He couldn’t reach the world in a physical form, as he was trapped in the nether, but he could reach out in a mental form. He did try to corrupt Phoebe, but she was strong and ignored his pleas, so instead he had to corrupt the animals of the world. He put evil thoughts into their mind - greed and hunger, making the balance of the world tip. One night, while Phoebe was sleeping, a pack of starving wolves surrounded her. She woke, and screamed so loud that Legaros heard. Swiftly, he formed a man forged in his own image to protect her, naming him Alexander. He had all of Legaro’s strength and fairness, and he fought off the wolves.

Alexander and Phoebe fell in love, and within a year they were wed. They had 5 children, representing the 5 good Gods. These children birthed children, and their children more, and so from Alexander and Phoebe the men and women of the world were birthed. Over time, as their purity was diluted through bloodline after bloodline, humans began to lose faith, as so were more easily tempted by Ignarus. The 5 Gods sent messages through angels to different prophets, who then built churches and ministries, therefore solidifying the faith. As the Gods believe in free will, they let the humans choose between the lightness and the darkness, rather than destroying those corrupted by Ignarus. This is why the Gods, still till today, allow people to sin, and allow evils to happen, because they are letting you choose your own stories. It is common belief that at the end of your life, Legaros will judge you on the choices you made in your life, and will either cast you down to the nether to pay for your sins, or will ascend you to the aether to reward you for your goodness. However, people interpret this differently, and some people actually believe the nether is a place to reward warriors (those who die in battle) and the aether is a place for the common people. A plethora of different cults formed around this ideology.

As nothing is written, only passed on through word of mouth, many different denominations of the faith have appeared, and the stories changed massively. The stories here are the stories believed and accepted by the common faith.

== The Gods ==

== Origins of Elpida ==

== The Gods ==

== Origins of Elpida ==

In the very beginning, the gods and titans where children of the Aether, equipped with limitless power. These children began shaping the universe, the titans made things of matter and structure like stone, water and air. The gods instead created life in all its shapes and colors to dwell in creation and explore their world. This was how things went for many eons until the titans grew restless, the wanted to create again but there was no room to create, for what had been constructed flourished in splendor. In order to get their own way, they tried to destroy all that existed before to create anew. The gods, who had grown fond of life and the world were against this and tried to stop the titans. This angered the titans deeply, and their leader, Krypteen, attacked Legaros with a bolt of thunder. The singular act of such treachery was the beginning of the ethereal war, a battle that lasted for thousands of years. Gods and Titans fought in all out destruction, leaving their world battle-scarred. The gods triumphed and banished the titans into the void of existence, a place so horrid that even a god would go mad. But with such a world left over, they had no choice but go into a deep slumber, letting the disaster remain for many a millennia, until they were to emerge once more, the 6 gods reborn into a new age of prosperity.

The coming settlers that helped to establish Elpida was not without financial aid. For there was a family deeply rooted within the political scene of the homeland and saw the new world as a treasure trove. Agustin Salvian, head of the family, provided the ships in which the very first settlers travelled on. Salvian provides them for free, and blessed them with Metus’ prayers. However, this would not be the end to the involvement of both parties. The early settlers found themselves in danger as the creeping tides of ruin fell. Wolves and other creatures of the night plagued those few, and thus Pertentus found himself seeking aid from the great families. The Salvians jumped at the sound of such an opportunity, and drew up a loan contract with the Senate. As time went on, Pertentus found himself deeper into debt with the family, who was notorious for their money lending schemes.

However, Augustin felt that there was more to invest, and so sent some of his family to settle in the new world. Pertentus agreed cautiously, knowing full well of the lasting agreement made. For, as Elpidas riches flowed back across the sea, it found its way into the pockets of the Salvians. Yet, many still went hungry in the streets, causing for Pertentus to have a political outburst against the family. The family retaliated, burning buildings and refusing the use of their ships. They felt that Pertentus had turned his back, who had been denying any corruption in the Senate and sending his forces to apprehend the Salvians. Augustin remained and was arrested, but sent his son Julian toward Elpida to continue the tradition of money lending to spite the senate. He knew they had no power in this new land, and thus felt that his legacy was secured. Several months passed, and Augustin was hung for treason. Word traveled to Elpida, and those remaining felt rage. They sought to retaliate against the senate, and decided to grow their influence to seek their revenge. This has lead to organized crime wreaking havoc in Elpida, and some say murderous intent...

By 2399S, the followers of Phaedron had risen to unwarranted numbers in the community. The poor took action in their desperation by following their patron god into thieving, causing for a large uproar in criminal activity. By the next year, several had gone missing and never returned. Even those within the working class had taken their leave unexpectedly. This worried Pertentus, noticing the failing community in its poor financial state. Thus brought on several donations and expenditures to reestablish other gods and goddesses and improve the state of Elpida.

Things did improve for the citizens of Elpida, especially as the followers of Legaros increased their numbers exponentially. Thus brought on a new age of security and safety. Yet, Pertentus had not forgotten of those that went missing, and made several claims that the disappearances were a matter of murder rather than mystery. Those numbers continued to rise as well, especially as the poor began to decrease and leave the streets. Pertentus found this to be peculiar, and sought after the mystery at hand. The high Protector of Elpida, Gaius Cotentinus, was tasked with uncovering the mysteries behind those missing by the senate. It took several months before even the High protector went missing. This warranted Pertentus to investigate himself, yet before he could do so a letter arrived.

The letter was caked in blood, along with what appeared to be the High protector’s ring sigil. It read:

We are many, no longer the few. You cannot find us, we find you. The blood spilt, the valuables taken, all in the name of Phadron. We are his sons and daughters, his children. Be wary. Take care.

-The Children of Phaedron

This note left Pertentus unnerved, causing him to increase his efforts to find this group of misfits and apprehend them under the judgement of Legaros. Documents and files were produced detailing their crimes and mysteries, yet it seemed to be that they still remain active past the senator’s death.

Cman64: /* Powergaming */

Have you ever wanted to be a great adventure, taking arrows to the knee every day for a living? Or, maybe you want to be a merchant selling his wares to the highest buyer. One may even decide to play a lonely farmer that keeps to himself his entire life. Whatever it may be, you can roleplay it! That is the beauty of such a concept, where you can literally be anything you want.

But should you?

If everyone was the same dragon slaying, monster murdering hero then what would the point in having an rpg server? The idea of Minecraft Frontiers is for everyone to play their own role in our fantastical society. Yes, you may be an adventurer, but you can also be a farmer, a merchant, or a thief. The possibilities are endless! Why go with the status quo hero when you can be a drunk begging for coin to buy more drinks!

== '''Proper Etiquette''' ==

~Nobody wants to see “what up m8”, “four twenty blaize it”, or “memes” while roleplaying. It ruins the atmosphere that we at Minecraft Frontiers have worked so hard to develop. Please, from everyone, try to refrain from these actions.

~Now to get into cuss/swear words, there is a fine line between appropriate, and inappropriate.
You can say”shite”(accented), “damn!”, or even “arse”. There are of course other words you may use, but please control yourself and not resort to these words when frustrated with other players(the ones we dare not speak in front of family). Merely roleplay a fight to get all that pent up anger out. There will be consequences if this happens as well, so please be appropriate to your character when it comes to language.(i.e. A child should not have the mouth of a sailor)

~Greetings can go a long way. There are a million and one different ways to say “Hi”, so use them! Feel free to experiment with this simple kindness. Who knows, the one you use may become popularized!

~Your own personal dialect is '''VERY''' important and it individualizes your character. Say, if you’re an old man, then stutter some words or speak slowly. If you are a High class citizen, talk with a large vocabulary and minimal grammar mistakes. If you’re a drunk, then slur your words and have fun with it!

~Common sense! Everyone must be realistic when it comes to physics and real-world mechanics. You cannot merely say *Joe shmo suddenly grew a pair of wings and soared into the air*. Think about if it could happen in real life, and roleplay it the best you can.
-Be respectful. Enough said.

----

== '''Metagaming''' ==

Your character may know very little, or a lot. Depends on their profile, their background, etc. That doesn’t mean that your character should know everything that’s happening when they have no realistic way of knowing. For example:

Rita cannot know that there was a large wolf attack on the other side of the map if she wasn’t a part of that event. She will have to find out for herself by asking around for rumors or stories.

This can really ruin someone’s fun, as it takes away that realism of searching for the story. Another example is when you ask a friend (via skype, slack, discord, etc) for help as you’re being attacked by other players just so you won’t lose. Again, this ruins the experience of a realistic occurrence.

== '''Powergaming''' ==

This nasty little concept is another game-ruining experience. This is when a player refuses to give the other a chance at and action(usually happens during role play fights). Here’s an example:

(language is not supported by our lore, it is merely an example)
John_Wollie : Hey, come in my car, let's go to my crib! You'll get some cash.
Jack_Shang : Uhm, okay... I'll come with you in one condition...
John_Wollie : No, get in!

John_Wollie grabs Jack and throws him into car.

== '''Proper Etiquette''' ==

== '''Powergaming''' ==

John_Wollie ties him.

== '''Powergaming''' ==

John_Wollie ties him.

See what happened there? Jack was given no choice to do much of anything in that situation, ruining the experience and causing for a probable fight out of character.
----

Now the most important thing about roleplaying is to '''HAVE FUN'''. So what if you die? Who cares if you lose and Arm/leg/etc? Make it a part of your own story because that is what you’re doing. You are creating your very own live action story! If your character loses a leg, then make a wooden prosthetic or become a homeless cripple. The possibilities are '''ENDLESS'''! You will be one very important part of many that will bring the world to life! So make it count!

One may even decide to play a lonely farmer that keeps to himself his entire life. Whatever it may be, you can roleplay it!

If you are a High class citizen, talk with a large vocabulary and minimal grammar mistakes. If you’re a drunk, then slur your words and have fun with it!

----

== '''Metagaming''' ==

== '''Powergaming''' ==

John_Wollie ties him.

See what happened there? Jack was given no choice to do much of anything in that situation, ruining the experience and causing for a probable fight out of character.

Nobody wants to see “what up m8”, “four twenty blaize it”, or “memes” while roleplaying. It ruins the atmosphere that we at Minecraft Frontiers have worked so hard to develop. Please, from everyone, try to refrain from these actions.

----

Now to get into cuss/swear words, there is a fine line between appropriate, and inappropriate.

----

Greetings can go a long way. There are a million and one different ways to say “Hi”, so use them! Feel free to experiment with this simple kindness. Who knows, the one you use may become popularized!

----

Your own personal dialect is '''VERY''' important and it individualizes your character. Say, if you’re an old man, then stutter some words or speak slowly. If you are a High class citizen, talk with a large vocabulary and minimal grammar mistakes. If you’re a drunk, then slur your words and have fun with it!

----

Common sense! Everyone must be realistic when it comes to physics and real-world mechanics. You cannot merely say *Joe shmo suddenly grew a pair of wings and soared into the air*. Think about if it could happen in real life, and roleplay it the best you can.

== Powergaming ==

John_Wollie ties him.

See what happened there? Jack was given no choice to do much of anything in that situation, ruining the experience and causing for a probable fight out of character.
If you are a High class citizen, talk with a large vocabulary and minimal grammar mistakes. If you’re a drunk, then slur your words and have fun with it!

-Common sense! Everyone must be realistic when it comes to physics and real-world mechanics. You cannot merely say *Joe shmo suddenly grew a pair of wings and soared into the air*. Think about if it could happen in real life, and roleplay it the best you can.
-Be respectful. Enough said.

== Metagaming ==

== Powergaming ==

John_Wollie ties him.

See what happened there? Jack was given no choice to do much of anything in that situation, ruining the experience and causing for a probable fight out of character.

Plots

Cman64: /* Player Plot Variation */

== What are plots? ==

Plots are predefined areas in the game world where structures can be automatically built out of a pre-built template.

Plots allow players and towns to own a piece of the world and decide which buildings are built within them. Although players are unable to actually place blocks within plots, they instead choose which building they want in their plot. Imagine opening a catalog of buildings and saying “I want building number 3 in my plot” - this is the exact system implemented and will allow players to shape the world around them.

== Ownership ==

Plots can either be owned by a player, or a town. In most cases, players will need to pay an upkeep fee to maintain ownership of their plot. If a player fails to pay upkeep on time, they lose ownership of the plot. Towns usually own a set amount of plots by default and do not pay upkeep for the plots themselves. This means a town will always retain the ownership of their plots. Instead, the town pays upkeep on the buildings within the plots - meaning that failing to pay upkeep by a town means keeping the plot, but losing the building.

== Function ==

“Player plots” and “town plots” both serve a very different function in the game. Player plots are mainly a display of a player’s progression - they do not offer much functionality besides some convenience to the players (e.g. storage). Town plots are very different. They offer gameplay progressing elements that give players access to new content. Town plots are much more expensive and the upkeep on them is considerably higher, often requiring many players to contribute in order to finance the building in a town plot.

== Player Plot Types ==

The plots ownable by players come in four types: “decorative”, “small”, “medium” and “large”. Even the small plots will be difficult to obtain and will be rare - most players won’t even have the small plots. To obtain a plot, the player will need to meet set requirements (enough finances to fund the purchase).

Decorative Plot (7x7):

Small Plot (13x13):
While being the smallest of the player plots, even this one will require a lot of effort to obtain. The price may vary depending on location, but is fairly high and has recurring rent. Small plots offer very basic storage for the player (no other gameplay benefits). The main motivation to purchase one is likely to show others that you are part of the town.

Medium Plot (21x21):
Bigger in size than the small, this plot offers players the sense of owning something more meaningful than a small house. These will be very expensive (with recurring rent) to obtain and sustain - only the most active players will be able to own one. Owning one of these shows you are one of the most renowned members of the game world. They may offer more storage, perhaps even a basic crafting station. These plots feel much more spacious and could comfortably fit a couple of players at once.

Large Plot (?x?):
Not currently available

== Player Plot Variation ==

To give players more variety, each house design will have several variations. The Small Plot (13x13) might have 8 house designs, with 3 variations each.

A house design is often a very unique build - the designs will fit the same theme, but differ from one another quite a bit. Some houses may be “block-like”, some may be U shaped, some will have towers, some large gardens, other designs may be large defensive forts (these are all examples of different designs).

A variation is a slight change to the house design. You might have one house design (a small U shaped villa with a garden), but it will be available in three variations. One variation might have oak furniture, while another will have slightly darker color palette. One variation might have red roses, while the other will have yellow flowers in a different pattern. One variation may have slightly different furniture layout than the other.

House designs will take much more planning and effort - both from the builders and the Lore writers. Variations will simply mean taking an already finished building and changing the decorations around a little.
Inspired by the original Whitestar Terrace Home, this natural home incorporated the wildness and beauty of Elpida's flora. The fusion of the night's sky and the forests of Elpida provide inspiration for this particular design.
