His dad was an abusive drunk. His mother was to scared to do anything about it and so Callistus hated home. He was constantly in the town getting into fights and stealing. He loved stealing especially. One evening, when Callistus' dad had come home drunk, his dad had started getting angry. Callistus was not having it and he tried to fight back. His dad stared shouting and slammed his bottle down on the kitchen table. The bottle shatterd and one of the shards of glass shot towards Callistus' eye. Callistus flinched and closed his eye but the glass still went through giving Callistus his signature scar in his eye. Callistus left home that day at the age of only 14 and began stealing food and living out of a small cave. He spent the next year there. In his 5 years in that cave he stole food from the markets and money from the rich. One day he was sneaking around a house when he found a lockpick. He was in the locksmiths house. A candle was lit and the locksmith caught him stealing. Callistus panicked and went to run but the locksmith was fast and caught him before he even got to the door. Instead of being angry the locksmith was impressed. Callistus told the locksmith about his abusive father. To Callistus' surprise the locksmith agreed to take him under his wing and train him as his apprentice. The locksmith started paying Callistus and he began saving. It was also a sort of escape from his abusive past. Little did the locksmith know, Callistus never stopped stealing and he used the newly found lockpick to his advantage every day. Over the five years spent with the locksmith, Callistus had many conversations with the locksmith about Elpida. The main reason Callistus wanted to go there was all the rich people he could steal from. At heart, Callistus was just a petty thief, even if he was a good one. The only thing holding Callistus back was the rumours of increased guards and that meant less stealing. Callistus began to consider becoming a normal crime free citizen, but as mentioned before, he was really a thief at heart...
