    Background

Erus lost both of his parents to a bandit raid on his home town shortly after the assassination of Emperor Claudius. Erus fled his home town during the raid after his parents sacrificed their lives to protect him and the family heirloom; the staff. He wandered the mainland for days, dodging bandits, gathering scraps of food, and curious of the true meaning behind the staff and why it was so important to his parents. After being caught stealing bread from her home, 74 y/o Clara Hildegrad decided to help Erus get back on his feet. Over the next 4 years, Clara became his only friend after his home town was burned to the ground. Though Erus was grateful for Clara’s kindness, he spent his nights looking towards the sky and wondering why his parents died protecting him and the staff. One night, Erus became fed up with his fruitless curiosity and desperately prayed to Marventa for answers to his endless questions. In the middle of his pleas, Erus turned his gaze back towards the sky and noticed something new in the stars, a shape. Erus scrambled back into Clara’s home and retrieved parchment paper and an inked quill. He scrawled the new pattern in the sky onto the parchment, desperately searching the pattern for answers. Convinced that the goddess had answered his prayers, Erus became determined to uncover the true purpose of his family heirloom. Clara noticed his shift in behaviour, seeing him spend more time outside and noticeably more energetic. Relived that Erus had seemed to be happier for the first time since she found him, she bought him the telescope he still travels with to this day.
However, Erus’ life would be shaken again. On August 27th, 2403, Clara fell gravely ill and lost her battle for her life on September 9th, 2403. Knowing that her health would not bounce back, she gave Erus a final word of encouragement, “Do not falter, in the name of the goddess, follow you purpose.” Erus’ energy hit rock bottom, and began spending most of his days locked in Clara’s home, praying to Marventa for another answer. He spent every day studying his journal for patterns or clues he may have missed, and every night watching the stars with his telescope, plotting changes in his journal. After shutting himself inside for 2 years now, Erus began to lose hope in another answer from Marventa. With his hope reaching its limits and no new leads from the goddess, Erus turned to the local tavern. One day while he was drinking, he overheard some men talking of Elpida, the new land, a new hope for people tired of the mainland. Erus returned to his drinking, thinking nothing of it and reminded himself to check it out later. The next morning, Erus made his way to the library, hoping that this new land would give him the answers he desired. When he discovered the map of this new land, he nearly dropped to his knees and knocked over a small standing table. He lay the map out on a nearby reading table and frantically retrieved the parchment he wrote 4 years ago. He held it to the map and his eyes widened in realization; the shape the goddess showed him was nearly identical to the shape of Elpida.
With his energy completely renewed, Erus used every single penny left to him by Clara to get himself aboard the next colonial ship to Elpida. With nothing but his staff and telescope, Erus was determined to find where the goddess led him, and uncover the truth behind his staff.

That was a good read! However, note that the name is supposed to be Marventa, not Marventus, and we've edited the name in your biography to Marventa.

    Thus, approved!
